ABOUT THE SHOW

A pound of flesh is not justice, but it is revenge.

Ikarus Theater Collaborative’s Pound of Flesh is an adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Merchant of Venice. Come to the province of Kanlan, where the Indigenous Peoples of the Philippines do what they must, day in and day out, to protect their property and identity. Will they find justice against scheming corporations and a corrupt government? Or will the continuous scorn force them to take matters into their own hands?

Catch Justin Ayran as Silak—chieftain of the May-i tribe, CJ Maramara as Antonio—who owes Silak a pound of flesh, and Arielle Magno as Tal’a—a dayang who is wiser than she lets on. They are joined by Renzo Jimenez, Sandra Quintela, Ahlex Leyva, Markus Aserit, JP Basco, Natalia Go, and BJ Crisostomo.

Directed by BJ Crisostomo, Pound of Flesh: Mga Anak ng Lupa divulges the truth behind the injustices faced by Indigenous Filipinos.

Pound of Flesh: Mga Anak ng Lupa is on a LIMITED RUN in October 2021!
